The Schlitz Globe Lady

One of the best items we have come into via storage auction was the legendary Schlitz globe Lady. Schlitz is one of my favorite brands of beer collectible. Schlitz was the low end broke person beer. It was the malt liquor of its time and now their stuff is worth amongst the highest values in the genre amongst collectors. How is that for irony? Stuff produced in the late 60s and early 70s which was also widely considered their peak era. They were the number 2 brewery in the country into the mid seventies. They would later be bought out by Pabst who still produces their flagship brands to this day.

The Schlitz globe was one of there most iconic creations appearing as the central them for dozens and dozens of different Schlitz advertising pieces. The most valuable being the globe style clocks and various other three dimensional globe items such as tulip lights or accent pieces. None of these can compare to the craftsmanship or intrinsic value of the Schlitz Globe Lady. .

The original is close to 4 feet tall and is one of the most fragile items we had encountered. The centerpiece of a tremendous bar collection this piece had its value sky rocket after it was featured on Pawn Stars where the guys at the shop bought it for $50. If you find this statue of the Schlitz Globe Lady in mint or near mint condition it can bring in some serious money.

We sold ours on ebay starting at 0.99 and after 6 days it was at about $200. At the last moment it shot up and would end up closing at $789! The main things to evaluate when trying to valuate on of these is if the globe is the original. The amazing fragility of this piece results in very often the globe breaking on these. Very few of them are ever found intact due to the less than durable design of the arm.  Next you will want to check the finish of the paint and of course the working status of the lamp. If all of these check out you have yourself a top tier piece.  Even broken or in less than a mint condition as long as there are no breaks to the arm or globe you should still be able to get very good money for this piece as it is VERY rare.

I HAVE THE SCHLITZ GLOBE LADY. IT WAS IN MY HUSBAND’S BAR TILL 1991 AND HAS BEEN IN MY BASEMENT SINCE. IT IS IN FAIR TO DECENT CONDITION AND STILL WORKS. THE TAIL ON THE GLOBE IS MISSING AND THE INSIDE OF THE TOP PART OF THE GLOBE IS WRINKLED FROM TOO LARGE OF LIGHT BULB THAT WAS TOO HOT. ON THE WHOLE IT IS A SUPER STATUE.
