We recently had a great collection of 1950s & 1960s come through we sent some of the best of them away for grading. When you have vintage cards it is important that you have someone with an eye for grading. The difference in the value of a card that grades in the 7+ range and one with a more average grade could be thousands of dollars. Here at collectibles NJ we will individually review your baseball card collection to determine if cards are worth sending away. It is important to note most cards even if they appear to be perfect to the eye may often have defects to the cardboard and are seldom going to get a 9 or 10.
Some other problems that older cards have are that many may be altered or trimmed. A good way to tell is to compare them to other cards from the same year and set to see if they match up. Trimming is a process of cutting the edges to improve the overall appearance of a card. Graders will catch this every time and its something to be careful with when purchasing 1950s 1960s or other older cards.
